Smoothies are a go to meal or snack of mine, especially when I’m in a pinch for time. While I want to balance out the fruits carbohydrates in the smoothie with protein and fat, sometimes I want that protein to come from something other than protein powder!

If you are looking for a protein smoothie with no protein powder, you have come to the right place because I have the perfect smoothie recipe for you!

This cottage cheese fruit smoothie is creamy, delicious, and full of unique lemon and peach flavors that you don’t always find in a smoothie recipe. Beyond that, this recipe has no protein powder and instead get’s its creamy texture and protein from cottage cheese!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

You’ll love this cottage cheese fruit smoothie because it is:

  • Unique flavors: it’s not every day that you find a peach smoothie recipe… especially one that has been enhanced with lemon juice and lemon zest. It’s also not every day that you find a smoothie with cottage cheese in it. This recipe is a recipe for exploration that I know you will love.

  • Customizable: if you are not a cottage cheese fan, vanilla greek yogurt would be equally as delicious in this smoothie and another great source of protein to add to smoothies.

  • Can use fresh or frozen peaches: I recommend using frozen fruit in smoothies to get a thicker and creamier texture. If you prefer a thinner smoothie or simply don’t have frozen peaches on hand, fresh peaches will work as well but make sure they’re ripe!

  • Easy to make: Just a blender and a glass is all it takes to get this smoothie on your table.

I love this recipe and I know you will too!

Ingredients:

  • Frozen peaches: you could use fresh, but make sure they are soft and fully ripe.

  • Cottage cheese: My favorite is Good Culture.

  • Milk: or preferred liquid.

  • Lemon juice and lemon zest: this is a key component, don’t skip it!

  • Vanilla: this enhances the dessert like flavors.

  • Honey: could use maple syrup or omit entirely if you prefer a less sweet smoothie.

  • Whipped cream for topping: optional but highly recommended!

The process:

The best part about smoothies is how easy they are to make (and clean up!). All you need for this recipe is a your ingredients, a blender, and a glass! Here’s how to make it:

Recipe FAQ:

  1. Can I skip the lemon?

    1. You can but it won’t be the same. The smoothie will still be good but the fresh lemon zest and lemon juice really enhance the peach flavor so I highly recommend you include it

  2. How to meal prep a smoothie?

    1. If you want to meal prep this smoothie, I recommend meal prepping all of the food ingredients into ziplock bags! Then, when you are ready to eat, add your liquid and blend.

  3. How to make this smoothie lactose free

    1. If you need a lactose free smoothie, then I would buy this Good Culture Lactose free cottage cheese and either Lactaid milk or Fairlife milk which is also lactose free.
